Our Story

We believe prepping should
cost less than a dinner out.

Emergency preparedness shouldn't require a 5-acre farm, a dedicated basement, or a $10,000 budget. For about $87 — less than 3 coffees a month — you can protect your entire household for 72 hours.

How We Started

When we started looking into prepping, everything we found was tailored to people with huge houses and limitless budgets. As apartment dwellers, we didn't have a garage for 50-gallon water drums, and we couldn't install solar panels on our landlord's roof.

We realized that millions of urbanites and renters were being left out of the preparedness conversation. That's why we created BudgetPrepped: to provide practical, affordable, and space-saving emergency strategies for the rest of us.

Our Philosophy

  • Spend a little, live confidently. The average personalized prep list costs $87 total. That's it. One afternoon, one closet shelf, and you're covered for 72 hours.
  • Personalized, not generic. Our free Prep Quiz builds a custom shopping list based on your apartment, household size, budget, and biggest concern. No cookie-cutter checklists.
  • No fear-mongering. We focus on realistic scenarios like power outages, extreme weather, and water shutoffs — not zombie apocalypses. We show you the problem and the cheap fix.
  • Fits in a closet. Everything we recommend is designed to fit under a bed, behind a couch, or on a single shelf. No garage needed.

Our Difference

Most prepping sites target rural homesteaders with $5,000+ budgets and dedicated storage rooms. We exclusively focus on city dwellers in apartments and small spaces, with gear recommendations under $30 and storage solutions that fit under a bed.
